Vn. San José Base Camp Hiking Tour
This beautiful day hike goes along the Cajon del Maipo, across the green Engorda Valley, which is surrounded by the highest mountains in the area.
Our goal is to arrive to the famous mountain hut, named Plantat (3130 m.) that was built by Enrique Plantat and his sister, in 1937. It is located at the base of the wellknown Volcano San Jose (5821 m.) and the hike to get there will take 4 to 5 hours.
The hike back down will take another couple of hours. Once back to the car, you can decide whether or not to stop for a drink at the Refugio Alemán, the German hut that provides accommodation for mountaineers from all over the world that come to climb the highest summits in this part of the Andes.
This is a full day activity, we will pick you up at your hotel at 8 am., and we expect to be back in town around 6 to 8 pm.
