Marcela has a degree in psychology from the National University of San Luis, Argentina. Her final thesis, titled “Group Dynamics within Mountaineering”, was approved with special mention and was recommended for publication.

Next to her psychology degree, Marcela has been guiding expeditions to the highest mountains in the Andes and in Patagonia since 2000. During her studies, she also graduated as a Trekking Guide (Escuela Provincial de Guías de Alta Montaña y Trekking) in 2005 and completed her Wilderness First Responder training in 2006.

Marcela is also a member and co-founder of the Pancanta Foundation, whose main goal is to educate people about the conservation of the wilderness areas around San Luis, Argentina.
