Information you need to know for arrival in Chile

this post has been prepared primarily for travelers who booked a travel package with ChileMontana, make sure you meet the following entry requirements to enjoy a smooth experience:

1-Valid passport

It must have a minimum validity of 6 months from entry into Chile.

2-Tourism Card

Upon arrival at Santiago airport, when you go through passport control at immigration control, you will get a Chilean tourism card. This card is valid for 90 days and allows you to stay in the country as a tourist. You must carry this card with you throughout your stay in Chile and return it when you leave the country. In hotels, they can ask for it together with your passport. For those who drive a rental car, police control may ask for it together with your passport.

3-Return or onward flight ticket

You must prove that you have a reservation or flight ticket to leave Chile within 90 days. It is not usual for them to ask you for a ticket, but they have the right to do so.

4-Documentation of funds

You must prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay in Chile. It is not usual for you to be asked to show the funds, but they have the right to do so. Since you are traveling with an organized travel package, show your roadbook and voucher, perhaps your credit card.

5-Fill out the SAG Form (Affidavit)

All travelers must complete an affidavit from the SAG. Although it is possible to do this on paper when you arrive, the form is also available to fill out online. Paper forms are becoming less and less common at airports, and in many cases, it can be challenging to find them. Also, remember that these forms were distributed on planes in the past, but today, most flights no longer offer them.

Steps to complete the SAG Affidavit in digital form:

  • It must be done 24 hours before the trip.

  • Access the following link: https://djsimple.sag.gob.cl/

  • Click on your "Start procedure" and click on your "Next".

  • Select the "Sin Clave Única" option to continue as a foreigner.

  • You can now continue to complete the form with the required information.

Please note:

Remember that it is forbidden to enter Chile with products of animal or vegetable origin: cheeses, cold cuts, honey, any fruits and vegetables, and dried fruit must be declared in the SAG Affidavit form. This is important to consider when avoiding penalties upon entering the country. Fines start at $100 for those who break this law. We advise you not to bring them. They will be confiscated if you declare them at least 50% of the time. If you bring them and do not declare them, you face fines, which can be very high.

6.-The transfer to your hotel

Upon arrival in Santiago, you will find our representative waiting for you with a sign with your name. ChileMontana is not responsible for your transfer and your safety if you take any other means of transport other than ours. You will recognize our driver because he carries a sign with your name.
